Niwaki is a word meaning “Sculpting Tree’ which is used in Japanese garden design. Robin will discuss various methods used in sculpting and training Japanese maple. We will also talk about Japanese Gardens in the west. $15
 
This class will be held outside, wear comfortable shoes and clothing suited for the morning. Meet at the Arrival Garden just as you enter the garden from the Tolmas Center.
Robin Tanner has a Landscape Architecture degree from Louisiana State University. He studied Japanese Gardens in Japan working with a garden maker. He has spent decades in practicing Landscape Architecture and a lifelong student of Japanese Gardens. Robin designed and installed the Japanese Garden, the Southern Shade Garden, and the Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden at the New Orleans Botanical Garden.
