Michelle Gueydan is a familiar name to our Swirl family.  Over the last decade, she has not only stood in as an employee and educator, but she and her dog Vino are also exuberant customers who frequently engage with others over food, wine, and fur-friendly treats!
Michelle believes in our mantra: Drink What YOU Like!  Nonetheless, she also believes that many of us don't often expose ourselves to educational tasting experiences that are outside of the ordinary or beyond our comfort zones.  To that end, she will lead a monthly educational tasting series at Swirl, aptly titled: Saturdays with a Somm, Exploring the Unexplored.  Each seminar will be seated, by reservation only, and the topics will be generated and posted one month prior.  Each “class” will be fun, educational and above all, adventureous!
Her first class is Saturday, January 19th, 6-7:30pm, Peculiar Piedmont & Frentastic Friuli.  Join Michelle for an exploration of two well recognized Northern Italian regions, but don’t expect your typical Piedmontese Nebbiolo nor Friulian Pinot Grigio.  Instead, she will take you on a journey replete with varieties and blends that will surely expand your horizons – and your palate!  For $35pp, you will learn, taste and engage with 6 unique wines.  They may seem peculiar by name; they may seem frenetically wild; but they will surely engage your palate on a new adventure through some of our favorite Italian wine regions.
About Michelle: Native to metro New Orleans, Michelle graduated from Dominican High School and then traveled to upstate New York, where she completed her B.A. in Political Science and Literature at Hobart & William Smith Colleges. Her first career stints were in Scheduling and Event Management, and her experiences spanned a broad gamut – from politics, to real estate/asset management, to philanthropy, and last but not least, concert coordination. She traveled internationally with former employers and collaborative philanthropists: real estate mogul Joseph E. Robert, Jr. and acclaimed musical composer Quincy Jones. Although Michelle was renowned for her planning and management skills, her wine & food experiences played an integral role in business and networking accreditations. She embraced this m
