A CELEBRATION OF CHAMPIONS
The date was September 26, 2006. The New Orleans Saints returned to the Mercedes Benz Superdome for the first home game after the devastation of Huricane Katrina. On that night, nearly everyone in the nation was a New Orleans Saints fan, rooting for our battered city.
As a sold-out crowd watched the game, it was a kick blocked by Steve Gleason that brought the crowd to its feet for one of the longest and most joyful fan cheers in NFL history. It was the moment that made grown men and women weep. And it gave our city much-needed hope that Katrina could not break our spirit. Our New Orleans Saints were home, and every Sunday brought us renewed hope as we moved forward in recovery.
On Sunday, February 3, 2019, we once again rose above adversity. More than 30,000 fans took to the streets of New Orleans' French Quarter to participate in the Blackout & Gold Second Line Parade, and the event made national and international news. It was the quintessential celebration of New Orleans, its culture and its resilience. The Saints may have been cheated out of their opportunity to play in the Super Bowl, but without question, they won the day on February 3.
MAKING HISTORY ONCE AGAIN - BLACK & GOLD SECOND LINE
A GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS(TM) OFFICIAL ATTEMPT
On November 3, fans can take part in the Black & Gold Second Line parade, a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Official Attempt for the title of largest 'second line.' The event will bring fans together yet again to celebrate the resilience and unbreakable spirit of our team as only New Orleans can. This is our way to show the world that we are back with one mission, one vision: Super Bowl 2020, plus its an opportunity for fans who participate to potentially leave the event as GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title-holders!
This Black & Gold Second Line Parade will be made possible through fan support/ticket sales and the generosity of our event sponsors. For sponsorship information, email SecondLine@RightBrainDiaries.com.
