The New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is seeking 200 volunteers to participate in a full-scale exercise simulating a complex attack on a parade. Volunteers will be assigned various roles to play in the tactical exercise, including those who are wounded, deceased, or separated from family members.
Lunch and free parking are included.
WHY THIS DRILL?
This important drill will help New Orleans public safety agencies test emergency response plans in the event of an attack. For example, we'll test a hospital surge plan to triage and handle a mass casualty incident. We'll also test a family reunification plan to track and communicate with family members the status and location of people affected by an attack.
VOLUNTEERS ARE ESSENTIAL.
Role-playing with real people allows emergency personnel to fully test our plans, policies, and response. Please consider volunteering to make this exercise successful and fruitful for public safety planning.
