Calling all African-American High School and Middle School Girls!!
DU - Wishes (Dillard University - Women in STEM High School Experience in Summer) is a fourteen day program for female students in grades 7th - 12th to gain hands-on experience in STEM related experiments and activities.
There is an exciting line up of activities and hands-on exploration at Dillard University's Professional Sciences Building. Be prepared to have your curiosity stimulated by experimenting in the fields of engineering, biology, chemistry, physics, optics, optical illusion, and mathematics. Participants, or "women in science of tomorrow," will learn about illustrious women and minority women in science and interact with guest speakers.
The program goal is to provide an enjoying and enriching experience young women of color and inspire them to pursue STEM careers to change the current representation of women of color in STEM.
Program highlights are a $350 stipend, an iPad, go on field trips, speakers from industry, like NASA, and it all ends with a special wrap up event on the last day where parents and teachers of the participants join to hear the students present their two-week experiences.
Dates and times are as follows: June 10 - June 21, Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3 pm. Precedence will be given to grades 9-12 and then to grades 7-8.
