Celebrating 50 years of Bringing Dance to Life in New Orleans, on Saturday, January 26, 2019, BRAVO and Honorary Gala Chairs Governor John Bel Edwards and First Lady Donna Hutto Edwards invite you to the Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts for a gilded and glittering 50th Anniversary Evening of Stars performance and Gala event.
The evening begins with a special tribute and NOBA Lifetime Board Member induction ceremony for three community visionaries whose extraordinary creativity and vision helped chart the course of innovation, evolution, and collaboration that has established the organization as it exists today: Center for Dance Founders Jacquelyn Brechtel Clarkson and Janée Michelle Tucker and former NOBA Board Chair Dr. Bernard Jaffe. Following, patrons will experience an extraordinary full performance of classical and contemporary masterworks danced by some of the world’s preeminent artists, including Adiarys Almeida and Taras Domitro, formerly of National Ballet of Cuba; Jerome and Laura Tisserand, Lindsi Dec, and Karel Cruz of Pacific Northwest Ballet; and Yuan Yuan Tan and Tiit Helimets of San Francisco Ballet. NBC “World of Dance” and world-champion ballroom stars Denys Drozdyuk and Antonina Skobina will round out this stellar program.
After the performance, BRAVO invites you to join the performers and honorary guests, former New York City Ballet principal Wendy Whelan and Complexions Contemporary Ballet Artistic Director Desmond Richardson, for this year’s annual gala, a grand seated event by 1718 Catering by Hyatt Regency New Orleans on the stage! With gifts and an exciting raffle generously provided by Lee Michaels Fine Jewelry, a silent auction of premium items, a champagne reception in the lobby after the performance, music, dancing, and more, this unique affair will be as memorable as the organization and visionaries it celebrates.
In addition to the Gala evening, Co-Chairs Charlotte Bollinger and Gregory Curtis invite benefactors to continue the full 50th Anniversary celebration at the elegant Windsor Court Hotel for the Benefactor Dinner on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. Guests will begin the festivities downstairs with a special cocktail reception and live music, followed by a luxe
