Description
Permanently Closed.. White walls and blond-wood tables and chairs, along with Noguchi-inspired craft paper lampshades handmade by the chef, give the restaurant's interior a fresh feel. The casual mood is set by the clientele, many of whom live nearby. Servers are warm and responsive, and always happy to share menu recommendations.
Chef Mitsuko Tanner, daughter of a fish wholesaler and a sushi bar owner, knows how to judge a fish. But even in this Gulf state, sushi-quality fish is not always easy to find. Keep that in mind when ordering to avoid disappointment. Try the crunchy Rock & Roll and the massive Tabo roll, which looks like a four-course meal. Any of the cooked dinners--chicken or beef teriyaki, or any of the tempuras--go down easily. Appetizers like the baked salmon rolls and pan-seared gyoza are also a good choice for raw fish-phobes.
