Event Details
Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is hosting a Wine and Wellness event featuring free cardiovascular screenings on Thursday, May 23 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at 1901 Manhattan Blvd., Bldg A, Ste 200 in the Fountain Park Centre in Harvey.
Guests will receive a complimentary electrocardiogram (EKG) and ankle brachial index (ABI) screenings. An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. An ABI simple, painless exam is used to test the blood flow in the legs to determine risk of vascular disease. Lindsey Doucet, NCTTP will be providing guests with heart health and smoking cessation related educational material. Results will be reviewed on site by CIS providers. The event will also include hors d’oeuvres and red wine tastings.
Risk factors of vascular disease include family history, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
Registration is required.
