Developed in 1957 as a bar in New Orleans' Historic Treme area. After a year, the bar was relocated to it's existing area, which contained a bar, a hair salon as well as beauty salon in the front. In the very early 1970's, the beauty parlor closed, which prompted the need for a dining establishment from Willie Mae's bar consumers. The scents of Mississippi as well as Louisiana food rising from the kitchen area loaded the air and also prompted continuous need for tasty food. In 2005, Ms. Willie Mae Seaton was bestowed the prominent James Beard Award for "America's Classic Restaurant for the Southern Region."Get to know Willie Mae's - NOLA
