St John the Baptist Parish Animal Shelter offers services for companion animals belonging to the residents of our parish. We take owner surrendered companion animals as well as respond to complaints for stray or nuisance companion animals and cruelty cases. We are not licensed to handle wildlife and cannot respond to nuisance complaints for wild animals on private property. We have partnered with LASPCA to offer lower cost spay/neuter services to our residents and those in St. James Parish. If you're interested or have questions please call the shelter for an appointment. Hours of Operation: 8:00am to 4:00pm for Surrenders, Redemptions and Lost/Found. Noon to 4:00pm for Adoptions Surrender Fee: $10.00 per animal and you must have proof you reside in the parish Adoption Fees: $80.00 for cats/kittens $100.00 for puppies less than 6 months $130.00 for dogs 6 months and older All animals adopted from the shelter will receive age appropriate vaccines, a general health examination, be spayed/neutered, microchipped and if old enough they will receive a heartworm or Felv/FIV test.
