Frey Smoked Meat Co. was formed by friends and family to compete in the annual charity BBQ competition "Hogs for the Cause.” Since 2013, the team has raised $30,000 for the families of children with pediatric cancer. In the fall of 2016 we opened Frey Smoked Meat Co. restaurant!
Open seven days a week from 11:00 to 10:00 pm Tuesday - Saturday and 11:00 to 9:00 pm Sunday and Monday, at 4141 Bienville in Mid-City Market. We serve more than just award-winning barbecue. We hope in some small way to bring back an old New Orleans memory with a little different twist in BBQ. The Frey family has been in the meat business for six generations in New Orleans. Frey became a local meat packing company in 1865, operating for over 120 years.
Chef Ray and his brothers are great grandsons of Louis Frey who was the founder of L.A. Frey and sons meat packing company.
