In the current political landscape, board members face a myriad of situations that challenge their judgment and decision-making ability. This module has a mission to develop communication skills to improve common barriers faced by school board members. Additionally, the session will provide participants with insight by communication experts on some of the pitfalls often encountered in their roles representing school systems. This workshop will provide strategies to effectively navigate today’s political environment in the public media circus; develop consistent messages to multiple constituencies with conflicting interests; and implement practical, expert-advised ways to provide media interviews, impromptu and keynote speeches.
