While Mardi Gras is awesome, it's probably not the best environment for the little ones.  But, that doesn't mean the kids have to sit inside throughout the Mardi Gras season.  Family Gras is a great, family-friendly alternative to the traditional Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans.

Family Gras will be held on the weekend of February 10-12  on Veterans Memorial Boulevard across from Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie.

This is a great for adults and kids to get a family-friendly Mardi Gras experience rife with all the traditional Mardi Gras pageantry, FREE live music from national and local acts on two big stages.

Past concerts at Family Gras have included performances from Gavin DeGraw, The Guess Who, Natasha Bedingfield, and many others.

Each day at Family Gras has a special theme as well.  Suit up in your favorite spooky costume for Fright Night Friday, wear your favorite sports team gear for Sports Saturday, or dress for the season in purple, green, and gold for Carnival Sunday.

Other attractions at Family Gras include Flambeau Court where a variety of food vendors will cook up all the New Orleans food favorites including jambalaya, crawfish pasta, charbroiled oysters, pizza, and gator; an Art Walk with local and regional artists and vendors; and a Jester's Kids Tent featuring fun activities and characters perfect for hours of entertainment with the kids.

This is the prime, family-friendly Mardi Gras event in New Orleans.  Pick a day, head out to the FREE Family Gras celebration, and have yourself an unforgettable Mardi Gras experience!
